Pune Metro, in collaboration with Pune Municipal Corporation, is devising a strategic plan to enhance connectivity by introducing special feeder buses connecting Yerawada Metro station to Pune Airport. This move aims to alleviate traffic congestion on Nagar Road and significantly reduce travel time for passengers heading to the airport.
Yerawada Metro Station: Key Hub
Yerawada Metro Station, situated on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route, plays a pivotal role in this plan. Recognising the dense population in the area and the continuous traffic flow, Pune Metro officials emphasise the positive impact on the thousands of residents in the region once the Yerawada Metro station becomes operational.
Feeder Buses for Last-Mile Connectivity
To bridge the 4.8km gap between Yerawada Metro station and Pune Airport, special feeder buses operated by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) will be deployed. Passengers disembarking at Yerawada station can seamlessly transfer to these feeder buses, offering a direct and efficient connection to the airport.
Strategic Layout for Yerawada Metro Station
Yerawada Metro Station’s layout is meticulously planned to accommodate the increased traffic. With lifts, escalators, and pedestrian staircases on both sides, the station aims to provide a hassle-free experience for commuters. Bus bays for PMPML and Maharashtra State Bus Service will be strategically located to prevent highway obstruction and traffic congestion.
